I’ve been drawing ever since I tasted my first crayon. Nowadays I prefer coffee and beer! When I was a teenager, I convinced my mom to help buy some cheap silk screening equipment and taught myself a little bit of illustrator and photoshop. I’d make crappy album art and print shirts for my band, friends’ bands, local sports teams, bars, etc. But that half-assed venture never took off. I was focused on being a rock star, art school (which I only did a year of), and whatever other dumb shit young me was into. None of which ever took off either.
After about a decade of labour jobs, a few somewhat numbing - although educational - years of a corporate desk job, a layoff, some introspection, and a few pints, I decided I needed to create again.
So here we are. Influenced and inspired by damn near anything, but especially live music, patio beers, snowboarding, cars and motorcycle culture, bathroom stall poetry, whiskey, and adventure - Dead Trade was born. It was mainly out of a need for beer money and bike parts, but I figured I could put my drawings to work, and hopefully, someone might enjoy them.
If you do, maybe you’ll buy something - or not - either way, thanks for checking it out, reading, and supporting. It means a lot.
Cheers,
Jesse
